You should be able to get Radeon 8500 or Radeon 8500LE or Radeon 9100 for that amount

or even better a GF4 Ti 4200 or 4800, I have seen them going for 120$, where I live (similar prices as in UK) and thats incl. our extortionist 20% tax, but few are left

I would stay away from FX5200 mainly because many are said to have very low 2D quality - fuzzy picture, especially at higher resolutions

Radeon 9600 non-pro would be my recomendation if you cant get GF4ti

BTW With radeons its like this R9600 faster then R9100/R8500 faster then R8500LE/R9000PRO/R9200 faster then R9000 faster then R9200SE - slow *** card
GF4ti 4600 (4200 easily overclocks to 4600 in most cases) is about as fast as R9600PRO in most games and IQ is better then FX lower end cards but Radeons still have better IQ overall

check the THG video card performance chart for more info CLICK

I used this place in the UK to find prices for you:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...subcat_uid=362

They have a Saphire Radeon 9600 for £57.62 here:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=49372

This would be about 2-4 times faster than any of those cards you listed. All 3 you show use 64 bit memory bus instead of 128bit or more. This severly hampers the performance of all 3 compared to the other versions (FX 5200 Ultra or Radeon 9200 and the MX is based on the old GeForce2 MX DX7 core).

    lol @ ditto to martin;
The FX 5200 was a Dud card, but I,m sure with the money you quoted you will do fine. for reviews Check out
    www.tomshardware.com
and select video card and type in buyers guide, or simply this or that card. Remember when reading articles to check out the dates, it all changes so quickly.

Personally, I would've gone out and bought a R9800XT by now

I think in this case, you may be better off scrapping the motherboard, buying a better one (say, VIA KT600- or nVidia nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset based). Your 2400+ will be fine for now (that is, unless you've already ordered the 3000+).

Your GF4MX will also be fine for now. Yes, you may want to play Call Of Duty at high resolutions with quality settings turned on, but if you wait a couple more months, the next generation of cards are due to come out, so you might be able to save that bit more money and purchase a better card, such as a Radeon 9800, or a GeForceFX 5900

And if he waits a bit longer, say 20 years chances are his comp will be worth somethig on the antique road show
just imagine what kind of graphics card would be available then

With comps its always like that, whatever you buy is obsolete when you bring it home and there is always something better, more powerfull just behind the corner, oh and everything you can buy today will go down in price in a month, but in the meantime you have to have a computer, sadly

So, yes, if you can scrape together enaugh to get a better graphics card, 9600XT would be a good choice, 9800PRO even better
CPU can always be overclocked, so when buying new (I though you allready bought it, when I first posted) go for the middle, (2400+ is fine) since that way you dont pay much premium , if any

Also Nforce2 is a good choice motherboard wise, since it has great onboard sound (audigy class),usually doesnt cost much and comes loaded
