how much can i go on both memory and core to overclock it and still be safe. i know it's a risk or whatever =D but still

my computer is on most of the day if that's matters

Depends on which brand it is, my MSI Ti4200 OC's very well, has been set with riva tuner @ 300/600 for long long time with no crash ever. Just play with it and see what she'll do, riva tuner will test each setting and let you know if its gonna work or not. Good Luck!

Awe if U keep it cool it will be OK, performance is a tad better. Some Ti4200 cards do alot better than others, Good ones are.. Gainward, MSI, ASUS, but there is one other that is better than all the others due to faster ram chips, I cant remember the name right now, but it runs @ Ti 4600 speeds easily.

Must can do 275/550 easy. This is the speed of the 4400. My Gainward one does not do much higher do to the memory. The core can do much higher. I've had it running at 310 or so, but without the extra memory bandwidth too, it is kind of a waist. Its best to keep the core at 1/2 the memory.

Start by trying 275/550 first and make sure it is stable. Run a few benchmarks and play a few games. If everything is OK (no graphics defects like sparkles, snow flickering textures, tearing textures, or triange errors or lockups). Then take the memory higher at say 5Mhz incriments and text each time. When you run into problems then back it down 5Mhz. Then try upping the core to match 1/2 the memory overclock you got. Again do it in small steps and test between each bump in speed. If you have problems then back the core down a step and reduce the memory to match you core x2.

dont worry i was like that when i first started overclocking and ive had cards artifacting and crashing and never killed a card or cpu (yet)

The 4400 is 275/550 (like I said above). That was pretty good. I've heard of a few of the Albitrons or BFG (can't remember) were doing over 600 for memory. The highest I've seen was about 315/630 from a Ti 4200.

I was amazed that my card OC's so well, but its only the 64 mb ver, newer card w/8X and a killer copper heatsink, still I think the 64mb cards will run a little bit faster than the 128s.

The 128MB versions were clocked at 444Mhz and the 64MB versions were clocked at 513Mhz (some at 500). The newer GeForce4 Ti 4200-8x are the 128MB versions clocked at 500Mhz now. That is actually the card I saw cooking at 315/630. Some have made it even higher supposadly.

I had only one very bad experence with MSI mobo's, it didn't work! So I have never used another, I'm sure they are great reviews prove that, but the 2 MSI video cards I have used ROCKED!
