I burned all 50 Memorex -R disks in a Plextor PX 708A with out a coaster. The media was CMC (DVDIndo Pro) which has a poor reputation according to LordSmurf.
Sony? burner?? OK, from what I hear the Pioneer is a good drive.
I cannot burn at rated speed Using Nero 6 on occasion. The buffer under run(burnproof) kicks in and keeps me from creating coasters at the expense of burn times. I recognized this while trying to burn files and images from a slave drive.
Sanyo's DVD pickups include dual lasers in one pickup. The company has been already offering x8-ready pickups since last summer. Expanding from 15 million units a year to 35 million units beginning in Apirl, Sanyo is preparing x12- and x16-ready pickups for introduction soon.
Interesting article. I have had this Sony for a while now and it works well, but it only likes certain media. For xmas I got a bunch of Memorex media and so far nothing but coasters. I have heard good things about Pioneer.
You are quite welcome. I have profited by the experience of using my DVD burner. Now, if I get around to backing up some data with it, I will be safer for it also.
