Recommend me a Kick @ss Machine!!!

Hey guys, I'm planning on setting up a machine that uses the new AMD 64bit 3200 processor. What motherboard or setup do you guys recommend?? I want it to support hardware raid, DDR, and a very powerful videocard. Thanks!!!

    Motherboard:
    Abit KV8-MAX3

    Video Card:
    ATi Radeon 9800 XT

The onboard RAID found on many motherboards (such as the one mentioned above) isn't officially hardware RAID. For true hardware RAID you need to buy a high-end RAID controller card separately.

if your heart isnt set on the big 64bit jump yet- my system below plays anything excellently, and it can be had for a very reasonable price now..... i feel 64bit stuff is a little too new for me right now, but i really havent heard anything bad either

Do you guys think the move from a 2100+ (2260Mhz) to an AMD 64 3000+ would be worth an upgrade? I'm thinking about doing my yearly upgrade on my rig as well.

    What do ya think?

I wouldn't think so; a heavily OCed 2100+ should be adequate for 99% of people...

True, the main problem I have is trying to run my games at 1600x1200. Some newer games have some issues trying to run at MAX detail at those resolutions. Upping my memory to 1GB is going to help quite a bit, but won't hep much with the framerates.

I just dont know if the jump to a 64 3000+ is going to be worth it. Doubtful...

The only game I can think of that would benefit from it is UT2003 which is heavily CPU dependant

As for higher resolution giving you problems I think thats mostly down to graphics and by being the owner of r9700pro there really isnt much else out there that would give you a significant boost (not even 9800XT)
