Angry Lazy Asus Gf FX 5900 Ultra :-(

    Heyaz,

i recently got an offer to buy an Asus V9950 Ultra (GeForce FX 5900 Ultra) with a 3-day money back guarantee if i am not satisfied.

Well the start is full of problems, in 3d Mark 2001 SE i can only get around 12000 points, same as by brothers Asus GeForce 4 Ti 4600.

Now i know this card should bring about same points as the Radeon 9800 and i was expecting around high 14000 points or 15000.

Can anyone help me? I don't really know what should i say about my specs:

    Athlon XP 1800
    1 gig DDRAM 266
    Epox 8K9AI

    Perhaps some wrong BIOS settings?

    No

No image improving feature is turned on.

I noticed a strange thing, the card insists that it has two monitors plugged in.... while i don't have two monitors.

That's normal, many cards that allows two monitors will show up twice in Device Manager and with two monitors in Display properties. This shouldn't cause any problems though.

As for the card, which card did you had before the FX? Maybe there is still remnants of drivers from your previous card causing conflicts. I'd suggest a clean install of Windows if you can.

    I had LeadTek GeForce 3 Ti 500.
I was thinking about that too but i first wanted to ask around the internet to be sure because i hate re-installs of Windows (because of all the programs i need to install back).

Ok i went to reinstall Windows 98 Se and after installing the drivers (Asus 44.69, Nvidia 44.69 and Nvidia 44.03) windows (the desktop) didn't wanted to load anymore

So i went to install XP and install the drivers and now it works but same weak performance.
