Silly Question....Maybe

My Epox 8k9a causes HD data corruption around 195FSB. Would using a Maxtor (Promise) ATA controller keep the drives running in spec while overclocked, and prevent this from happening?

Since this would be using the PCI bus which will also be overclocked it might work a little better but I wouldn't expect it to prevent the corruption completely. Maybe it being a better quality component might make it less susceptible to this problem though. 195/5 = 39Mhz (over 33Mhz default). If your mobo has a PCI/AGP lock like the nForce2 based boards then it would probably solve your problems...

I wish this board had a PCI/AGP lock, unfortunately it does not (KT400).

On my local area computer classifeds, someone is selling a used Promise ATA Controller Card......I had a glimmer of hope of obtaining 200FSB

I may pick it up anyways, make a ghost image of my HD, and give it a whirl
