    GeForce4 GF TI4600 128M VIVO 8X

I just bought a EVGA GeForce4 GF TI4600 128M VIVO 8X AGP Video Card from newegg.com for $227.00. How good is it compared to the radeon 9700pro? or even the normal GeForce4 GF TI4600 128M 4X? I should have it by monday or tuesday from fedex, thx.

Thanks for the link. I guess I have to wait a few weeks for a newer review because it doesn't show the 8x version of ti4600, I guess because it is new.

the ti4800 or ti4600 8x is only marginally better than the standard 4x ti4600.
maybe would have been better to get a 9700 non pro
    but ah well
its still a very good card

Isn't the 9700pro only like 15% faster then the 4600ti? Plus it cost $100+ more and I trust the nvidia drivers and support better.I just hear alot of bad compatibilty problems with ati cards, like some people have to do a full clean format and put the drivers in a certain order for them to work correctly. The 4600 seems fast enough for me and it comes with ghost recon.I was going to buy ghost recon too so thats another bonus

ati have got a lot better driver wise and thus lowered the complaints.
so there is no longer anyreason to not trust them

Hmm... not really. Perhaps in some, CPU-limited situations. Overall it is about twice as fast, I'd say. Hard to put a figure on it because the advantage it has varies between a couple of percent and 2-3 times faster in some situations (e.g. w/4xFSAA and 8xAF @1280x1024).

Not to mention numerous other advantages: DX9-compliance, video in the shader pipeline, cleaner signal output, higher resolution output DACs etc etc.

The 9700NP is a much better buy than the Ti4600, without a doubt. Drivers are superior too, in my opinion - I have had no significant problems with either card (had a Ti4400 before), but I know a lot of people seem to run into difficulty with 9x00's.

    MuFu.
