What is meant by WHQL and Detonator?

What is meant by the terms WHQL and Detonator in regards to Nvida drives?

I am amazed by the number of drivers available - Is there a method of determining what you want or do you just experiment and/or go by forum comments? Is there a Net article discussing all this?

Have been in Puters a while but am new to the video scene and would like to know more about it. Tired of being a video dummy.

    Thanks, Bill

Detonator is just a "Branding" they have applied to the drivers to make it sound cool. WHQL means the drivers are tested and certified by MicroSoft to run stable under Windows and meet all their standards. Most companies will not touch a driver unless it is WHQL certified. All the others are just beta drivers and might have a few bugs kicking around in them.
