Built a new system as shown in picture below... nothing special, specs are in my sig...
Anyway I put two 80mm fans with blue LEDs in as exhausts, and two normal 80mm fans in as an intake. I was a tad puzzled when I was getting case/CPU temps at idle of 35/42. Couldn't overclock for toffee - I was maxing out at 1.62GHz (AGOGA core)
I've just been and bought some Antec "Reference" silver thermal paste for my CPU because I was using the pad that came with the heatsink. I installed that and put some on my GF4 as well. Then I turned the machine on with the side off, and put my hand near the back. It was sucking air out! :d'oh:
I've turned them round and now I'm getting idle temps of 23/33...
Much better
MORAL: Don't throw your machine together just because you're too excited with the jump from a K6-2 w/ V3 to an XP1800+ w/ GF4 - take your time

Nice looking rig you got there man. Is that a custom window or did it come like that? It looks almost perfect! Glad you got everything working the way it should... and happy overclocking!

Hi,
Thanks for the comments It came like that - the case is quite nice and it only cost me £40 (about $55?). I'm still planning on doing more to it - I'm actually going back home now to steal my stepdad's Sidewinder joypad and his Dremel
Cheers,
Jon

I might be wrong here but the fans at the back of the case (Exhaust) should be sucking air out! You should have an intake at the front sucking air in and one at the back sucking air out. If you have both front and back sucking air in then I would worry that the air flow of the case isn't functioning properly and no hot air is being extracted from the case!!!!!!!

Glad you got your new rig. I remember reading your post where your old system went up in smoke
I've seen those cases at MicroDirect. They do look bloody nice. My dad built a system for a friend in one of those, and they come with a 350w PSU as standard!!!
I might get one of those cases, but then i cant get the Lian-Li baby ive got my eye on.
Good job on the comp, looks sweet.

I actually salvaged the motherboard (AK35GTR) from the old system. I just decided to try it seeing as it was just hanging around doing sod all, before I started playing frisbee with it, and lo and f**king behold, it decided to work! It's been rock solid ever since
The case is fantastic value for money. Everyone who come round my house (even the landlord, hehe) has been impressed. It's my first proper modded PC, and I've still got bits to do when more cash comes in (damn bills), but for now, I'm pretty happy (and it saved me £130 cos I wanted to buy the Globalwin GAT-001)
and the best thing about it... the whole system (inc. the monitor) cost me about £600. I'm currently as my custom title states
Right, must play RalliSport Challenge, catch ya laters
