Doom III : The Legacy movie!
Hi
I just d/loaded this Doom III : The Legacy movie HERE .
I remember there was this guy John Romero (?) involved in both projects of Doom I and II, whose head you had the chance of blowing up in Doom II's final level.
Just wondering if he had left id software, because there was no mention of him in the movie above.

Romero left ID long ago to go on and fail as a programmer.
His last game was i believe daikatana http://www.planetdaikatana.com/

Well, that's sad news.
Funny how one who "revolutionised" the gaming industry could have failed as a game programmer.
I played Daikatana for a few minutes but didnt finish it...

Wasn't it John Carmack who revolutionised the industry or something?
Leeren , that's quite a lengthy signature there

Actually John Romero had every bit as much to do with those early games as Carmack did. Unfortunately Romero had an attitude conflict with the rest of the team.

Carmack was there in the old Doom?
Maybe I should play those again and pay a bit more attention to the credits.

You're welcome mate
BTW, does anyone here know where to d/load similar stuff, I mean not like games previews, but something like the "making of", where you have interviews w/ the programmers/producers etc.
I have this old Myst CD and there's an .avi video clip on the making of it w/ a few interviews w/ those involved in the project.
It's kinda fun to have a look at those guys sitting in front of their "oversized" monitors, doing the 3D Studio Max or AutoCad or just plain Visual C++ stuff on their w/stations/PCs.
Well, do these guys use C++ to code such games?? Just wondering...

You could try removing the spacing..
And/Or put SIZE=1 in square brackets before it and /SIZE in square brackets after it...

Yeah agreed. I have to admit, it is quite impractical in its current state.

Great little video. I'm glad I never downloaded the leaked alpha, and with each little bit that I see about Doom III my anticipation increases.

John Romero is now CEO and lead programmer for Monkeystone games:
http://www.monkeystone.com/about.php
They make games for the PocketPC, including the apparently quite fun Hyperspace Delivery Boy
http://www.monkeystone.com/products/hdb/
You'll notice that the lead designer at Monkeystone is Tom Hall, who was also a lead designer at id and who made the highly underrated Anachronox.
Stevie Case is Romero's sexy wife.
I wonder if these people will ever get another chance in the industry to make a real game again?
now that my specs are respectable, I might as well list them again:
