I came accross this review while looking for an IBM Desktar 180GXP review:

Hot Hardware - The Asus CRW5224A - 52X CDRW Drive

They test it against the Plextor 48X24X48, so I thought you might be interested gyx.

    here's some brain food:

Actually, having tried most brands in the shop, LiteOn CDRW and LiteOn DVD together in a pc are TOUGH to beat(price, compatability and dependability). Teac and Toshiba DVDs also worked well in combo with LiteOn. Arguments abound but EasyCDCreatorPlatinum5.xx is stable and simple to use. Notice i didn't rave about DIRECTCD(bad news!!!!!).

E-mail fowarded to me by a real hardware reviewer, better check your written media that came with your evaluation writer, or you could ave some trouble.
All Plextor products are provided for a 60-day evaluation period and
must be returned (or purchased) following the testing period.
Information on how to return the product will be included in the
    press kit.

By the way, what does BTW stand for?

It is better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6.
