K. I have a 9700 Pro (1.4TBird, 512mb DDR, XP pro, 6193 Drivers) and after much annoyance I got it running rock solid. It has been running like dream for a couple of days now.
Today, I bough IL-2 Sturmovik and UT2003. Installed them both. Played them for a bit, and went to watch the teevee. Came back an hour or so later, computer still on and everything seemingly fine.
Cranked up UT2003 only to be presented with these mad and crazy... things.... flashing on the screen:
not for sure looks like a direct x or opengl or d3d error or something...not sure
but i dont play IL-2 Sturmovik anymore. bought it and played it about 5 times...while it was loading, my computer froze, so i turned it off and it would not turn back on. turned out that my 2000+ was fried. dont know how, no burn marks or burn smell or anything and it never ran hot. so i havent played that game since
AMD XP 2500+ Barton @ 2.1GHz(205x10.5 @ 1.65)
1gb Geil PC3200
Abit NF-7S v2.0
SLK-900U w/ 92mm Vantec Tornado screamer
Saphire Radeon 9800Pro 128mb
Compro TV Tuner
CaseTek Super ATX Tower case with Q-Window
PowMax 400W Blue Power supply
--------------------------------- Dont Click!
I used to get something like that on my Geforce2 GTS (but not as bad and not in all games) on my Abit KT7 and Duron 600@900Mhz. I tried everything to fix. The only thing that worked was setting the BIOS to AGP 2x instead of 4x. I could run that card on my Epox 8KHA+ at AGP 4x just fine though.
Could also be the memory is overheating. If you shut the computer down and let it sit for a while will the problem go away for a bit. Does it now do it in other games. Run 3DMark2001se for DX and something like Quake3 for OpenGL. Have you tried a Windows rollback to the settings you had the day befor (Windows XP)?
