Hmm that is interesting. Not much help keeping it stable while its running, just cools down your case after its off. Its a good idea if youve got a hot system I guess

guess it could extend the life of the chip very slightly if you start up and shut down alot. but really who needs thier chip to last more than 10 years...crap like that is pretty pointless in my mind.
That's a stupid idea- with power off, your CPU isn't putting out any heat, so it's not exactly going to get any hotter and overheat... And HSFs still have bigass "HS" so it's still working, sloughing off that excess heat to get your PC down to room temp fairly quickly.
what is the point? we have such huge heatsinks anyway.... and does it really matter if our cpu last 14 years instead of 13.5? i get a new cpu a few times a year... i want to look in our computer repair shop and see the old computers with LCD displays of MHZ on the front that has 2 numbers, 8.8 i dont think you want to keep your cpu 10 years man...

From what i have seen on a lot of cars, like for example those crappy VW's, with there "Turbo" inside, the fan and all, when it gets to hot, it continues to stay on till the car is cool, even if the car is off, i dont think i have seen many cars that dont have it, unless you have a horse and buggy, or a hyndai then really.. whats the point
