I am going to get a Video card for a friend of mine and currently i think the best value for money is probably the
Geforce 2 mx 400 64meg it costs $AU 110 (australian)
There are other models out there like a Geforce 2ti or Geforce 4mx460 , that he might consider getting, but i want something between $au 100-200. What do you guys think?
With a budget of AU$100 - AU$200, I'm not sure much in the Radeon series will be affordable except perhaps the Radeon 7500.
Hopefully, the ATi Radeon 9000 will be available in that price range in the near future, but ATi products have a habbit of taking a very long time to reach Australian shores, so I wouldn't hold your breath for one
Actually, I noticed that the 8500LE 128mb is selling for $150 at Best Buy. Amazingly, they were in stock and only $10 more expensive than the 7500!
I know they are cheaper online, but I was shocked to see the 8500LE selling for less than the GF4 MX 440 sitting next to it on the shelf. Wonder which one people think is better....

More than 2x faster than a Geforce4MX with more features.
Hmm... it's probably not 2x faster in most cases and it's likely going to be more expensive than nVidia equivalents (in Australia - although technically nVidia have no equivalent product right now) if current trends are going to continue. I had a quick look at some com.au prices, BTW. No sign of Radeon 9000 in Oz yet.
How much are GF2Ti's? If they are about $150 then I'd get one of those instead. If not, then it seems to me that the deal you mention might be your best bet in terms of value for money, although a GF4MX440 for about $200 (if you can find one) would also be good.
Take a look at EYO Technologies. They have some of the more competitive Australian prices you'll find online, although not a massive range of products.
Their Leadtek GeForce4 MX440 64MB Retail is priced at AU$198, not inclusive of shipping. No GeForce2 Ti's are listed.
One card that has not been mentioned that is a good buy for its prices it the GeForce2 Ultra 64MB. It is only $66 US Dollars. This card is the highest Geforce 2 you can get (other than the TI I suppose) and it used to be over $400 a year and a half ago when it came out. It still can take todays games w/o problems.
I mean, if the buyer is looking into G2 400MX's, this would be ALOT faster for basicly pennys more and you do not have to worry about Ati Driver issues that seem to hamper there cards unlike Nvidia.
