I got an Athlon 950 a few months ago and instead of having a ceremic housing, it has a copper-toned graphite housing like the new thoroughbreds. I am wondering if this unit counts as an XP or Thoroughbred housing...
It looks like a combination of the 3~ http://www.anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1635&p=3
So now I'm wondering what the normal voltage is for my CPU...

They likely are still making the 950's. The only thing is they used to be made at Austin, but that plant is already being switched over to the manufacturing of flash memory. They likely had to shift production elsewhere. This means they will use whatever substrates are being used in Dresdin. The material does not make much differance, but the machines to connect the core to the substrates is. They have to use what they have avaluable.
The odd thing is this thing should have copper interconnectors as that is what all of Dresdin uses. That means you likely have a standard Thunderbird core with copper intereconnectors. That means it should overclcok REALLY good. These cores generally hit 1.4-1.6Ghz. The only problem is you can not tell from the shape of the core. If it has aluminum interconnectors like the Athlons below 1Ghz are all supposed to have then you will not be able to get much beyond 1.0-1.1Ghz.
It also could be an Athlon XP core, but the shape again whould be differant as shown in the link you gave.

Well I'm very interested in this lil piece of unit
And I'm sure some of u would like to know what's up as well. =P
I'll find out this weekend when I attempt to overclock w/ my new HHC-001 lapped...
I'll be throwing on a copper shim, using Arctic Silver 3, and the HHC-001... Hopefully it'll give me some good results. =)
*Crosses fingers*
Oh, should I attempt to changed the FSB first or the multiplier first after unlocking the unit??

A good deal of the Athlons in the world will run with a lower than default voltage. I, myself, have an overclocked Athlon XP at less than default core. The voltage is at 1.75V by default so the few stubborn Athlons would make it out of the factory, I would guess.
K
Computer underway now...
I took out the CPU
It looks like a XP and not a doughbread
And it has copper bridges
However, unlike the XP, it has 4 gates (like Tbirds), not 5...
Jus got my HHC-001 lapped... =D Nice mirror finish, I can see maiself!!
