Looking at buying a MMORPG. Who's on the best? The only one that I know of is Everquest. Who is Everquest's cometition? Is it worth $10.00 a month...? Are they're any that are free?

I'm not a mmorpg player but Dark Age of Camelot seems to be pretty popular right now. (In other words, like EQ before it, I don't see some of my friends anymore because of DAOC)

Ive played Ultima Online, Everquest, and Asherons Call. Asherons Call is the only one I still play. They offer monthly updates to the story line, and the playability within its seemless world is great(unlike everquest where it seems you move from one empty swimming pool to another). I think the game is only $20 too.

Dark Age of Camelot is by FAR the best MMORPG out right now. Everquest is far too gear-driven at the moment to be good for new players, whereas DAoC has taken up the more appropriate level requirement feature. Also, Realm vs. Realm is freaking awesome.

If you want to wait 3-7 YEARS, you can go for World of Warcraft. Blizzard usually does good work.
