Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force and Windows 98SE/ME

Ok, for the longest time now I have had ST Voyager Elite Force and have not been able to play the single player game. I have Quake III and Return to Caslte Wolfenstein and they work GREAT! I would download the patch for STV Elite Force except that it's something like 29mb. Mainly because of Jeri Ryan's voice being added. At the download speed of my line, it would take like a week to finish that. Or at least 10 hours.

My computer system is;
Athlon 700
Asus K7M Mobo
384mb PC100 SDRAM
VisionTek GeForce2 MX card (I've tried every driver for the card and it they still don't work.)
20GB Seagate HDD
Newly installed Windows ME
Aureal SQ2500 Soundcard

I wiped my hard drive clean and installed Windows ME to see if that would help, NOPE! I am currently using drivers 5.32 They work with Return To Castle Wolfenstein a lot better than the latest drivers. I do not have any problems with any games except for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force. I have played the Multiplayer game many times flawlesly but single player just keeps freezing at the first movie sequence. I even tried to skip it and it doesn't work.

Someone PLEASE HELP, if possible. Is there any hope?? Is it my soundcard or something??

Have you tried the compatibility(safe)-mode of the game? I suggest to turn down the sound-hardware-acceleration. Run DxDiag to check for DX related problems.

I played that game fine on my 1ghz Athlon (later upgraded to 1.4ghz), ASUS A7V, Geforce2 GTS, Soundblaster live, and Win98se.

So it sounds like the main difference between our systems is the sound card. I'd look at that first.

wouldn't be the card cause i have the same aureal.
but aureal has no drivers for ME as far as i know.
install win2k and latest direct X and play the game like that. I have played it on win98se plus latest DirectX and latest win98 drivers for sound and grafiks, and without the patch for Voyager i still played it well...no problems
sound is ok for sure!!!
