I got a Pent III 1GHz with 256MB RAM. I want to upgrade from my good old Voodoo 3. I'm not a real techy type. Is there that much of a noticeable difference in performance between these two cards to justify the price? Of course I want the GF3 but I feel I'll be just satisfied with the GF2 Ultra anyway. Opinions? Moneywise, I can afford the GF2. GF3 may be pushing it, thats why I want to know. Thanks

If you can afford both, go with the GeForce3. I can see you've waited this to change your Voodoo3... you now deserve the GF3 which will last you just as long.

I suggest you look at the new Titanium Geforce 3's. The Ti200 goes for 180 to 199 dollars, however, the 500 goes for about 300 or so. You want a Geforce 3 over the G2 because the G3's are fully compatible with DX8 (although no games are yet).
And the Gforce 3 is alot faster and supports all the new tech.
Any of the major brands are about the same.
Gainward
PNY
Visiontek
These come to mind.
I have a PNY and it works very well.

GeForce3 for sure. As far as I have seen, they all pretty much perform within 1% of each other, so I would just go for the cheapest one. Having said that, I will probably go for the Hercules one at the end of the month, because the quality of the board and their support and drivers tends to be the best. IMHO.
Yep, uve guessed it:
Go for the GF3
The reasons r above.
I would go for the ti200 myself (if i had anymoney!)
as it provides the best bang 4 buck.
You could probably overclock it massively also, as it the same chip as the £300+ ti500 but just slower clock!
have fun and post ur choice!

Get a Geforce 3 Ti 500 if you can afford it. I also had a Voodoo 3, bought a 320 dollar ASUS 8200 Pure (Geforce 3), and I am a happy camper.

I'd venture a guess that the Leadtek Geforce 3 Ti 200 is currently the best of the lot. Most people have gotten 500 MHz to 520 MHz out of the memory, and it's $239...for Geforce 3 Ti 500 speeds this is not bad.
Another card with 4ns memory that would be worth a look at is the PNY Geforce 3 Ti200, but this doesn't overclock as well as Leadtek's card. However, it's only $175.

The Elsa Gladiac 721 also has 4 ns memory. It does however start having mild visual artefacts at 500 MHz memory, so I'm running it at a more conservative 475 MHz.
