Is there always a price difference for games in different stores?

I went into a MicroCenter the other day and saw the Alone in the Dark 4 was $49 and Resident Evil 3 was $19. Went to CompUSA and saw them for $19 and $8 respectively. Does this seem to happen alot to you guys too? Not only this but games that have been out for about 4 years, weren't that popular and they still want to charge as if it's a new release.

Yeah retailers can be evil like that.
Its the same in the UK. Luckily since I live in a small city I can pretty much go round all the computer shops in one day and find the cheapest price. I also always check online with several uk online games retailers to see what prices they are offering in comparison. But I have found that it is always possible that you will find a large price difference between shops for certain games...

I've definitely noticed huge price differences in game software.

In one notable instance, I went to CompUSA to pick up an older title and saw that they had it for $44. Expecting a better price due to the age of the title, I walked about 150 feet down the sidewalk to Best Buy (both stores in the same shopping center) and picked it up for $19.

With games, it certainly pays to shop around.

Yeah, it varies a lot. Most stores will be around the same mark most of the time, but if you look around you'll find games that are either way too cheap or way too expensive. If anyone wants a copy of Interplay's 1995 game Stonekeep, I know where I can still get them for AU$99.78 (US$50). Funnily enough they don't seem to be leaping off the shelves.

I think sometimes the shops are too lazy to lower the prices, particularly the big chains. Dedicated game shops like GAME and Electronics Boutique (in the UK) seem comparable though.

EB is my first stop if I am buying a game offline...

I'm cheap. I just wait a few months when the price drops. Here's what I bought the last time I went game shopping (in July)

Sin2/S.O.F game pack $20, came with $20 mail in rebate.

SWAT 2 $20, came with $20 mail in rebate.

Oni $24. No rebate.

Not bad, 4 games $24 spent.

That's what I do too. Not only to get a lower price but to find out what people really think of a game after a few months. I bought FreeSpace 2 for $12 and last Saturday picked up Decent:Freespace and Silent Threat pack for about $11.
Tuttle, I agree it's funny with how stores refuse to lower prices even with games that got terrible reviews and sold very little upon release. Seems like they're thinking "If we wait just another year people will buy it."
I remember seeing EF2000, a 1995 game, for full retail at $35. Hell no!
