Exception caught! Message?? Please Help.

Would anyone have any suggestions on why when I hit the "Connect Players" button in NFSIII Hot Pursuit I get the below Exception Error and have to reboot and what I can do to fix it?

This is the error message I get:

I can play the game fine but can't connect to anyone else.

I've probably reinstalled the game 5 times now but can't hook up. 2 of my friends were playing last night with no problems. I tried to join but kept getting that error. Reinstalled it again last night with no success.

I can't even get to the screen to type in the persons IP address.

Could their be some settings I need to change? I've turned off my Virus program and Zone Alarm when trying to connect.

Sort of new to this so if possible I need somewhat simple instruction please. I'll eventually get the hang of this.

Another member a while ago solved his problem by installing the game but not installing the upgrade (i think).

I also thought of that and for the past couple of installs have not loaded the patch.
