3 to 4 FPS slower than Win98/98SE, but ME is a heck of a lot more stable! Win2k is slower than Win9x with 75% of the games out there.

    Sincerely,

Gorgon, tough luck for U. I never had the problem that you have mentioned just now. Maybe the problem that you have encountered is a lousy motherboard and don't care on how to setup your computer.

My gaming experience with ME is great, faster game loading and most stable OS beside Win2000 that I have yet used.
Win2000 is great for stability but you won't get many games that will give high FPS.

Another vote for windows 2000. It's just a more stable gaming platform. Developers will soon have to program for XP which is based on the NT code just like 2000 is. so Get used to the NT kernel as soon as you can.

I like to hear that...cuz I am planning on using 2000 for game. But are you sure you compare the hardware as well? Have you benched both OS using your own equipment, or just your equipment with different others' equipment?

Well, Q3 have seem to be the benchmark tools for Win2k. How about other games as well, Have you take that into consideration. half Life and maybe a couple a games that won't run in win2k as well as Win98.
I would like to know your 3DMark score in Win2k as compared to those in Win98/WinMe.
    Ha..

    4321 3D Mark 2001 Win 2k

Quake 3 has a special BAT file for 100% more or less Cpu time, can't do that in 98 or ME!
only game i ever had trouble with are Hexen and Duke Nukem 3d, any one know how to sort that out?? Doom uses doom3d and ZDOOM.
I play PRO Rally 2001, Serious sam and gonna get NFS 5 in a few days, Tribes 2 also plays excellent on my machine, no stutters or HDD acces
i have got Tons of games people wrote off for win 2k working just fine, may take you installing it on a win98 Box and copying the game directory to win2k, but it works!

Currently, all my systems run ME at my cafe. And the gaming seems to be fine, especially now that many hardware, and so game companies, have updated drivers and patches for ME. All our games run great, and I really think ME is better for gaming than 98.

I wanted to run win2kpro and see if it was better, but some proprietary software that I use to run the cafe would not work on a 2000 platform.

That's means I proably will have to have the software updated when XP comes out, if we go with it.

There's a Creeping Lag problem in WinME that I'm suffering with. speeds in online games like Quake3 start out very fast, but quickly turn to crap due to some unknown problem within Me

    For hardcore gamers = Win9x
    For non-hardcore gamers = NT 4.0/Win2k

Gorgon I'm using a SB Live along with a GF3, and I have no problems at all with my setup. It's either your hardware or the way you have your PC setup. Windows ME is a much more compatible OS, it has better driver support, and many more games will run on it vs Win2k. Win2k is a great OS, but it's driver support is still lacking vs Win9x, and like I said earlier not all games will run smoothly on it.

I was a ME beta tester and for a beta Windows ME RC-1 worked very well. People seem to complain about Windows ME a great deal, but if you'd load Windows Update on Win98/98SE or even Windows 2000 Pro you will be presented with a lot of patches and updates. Sure Windows ME has a few, but nothing like those other OS's. That kinda tells you something right there "if it isn't broken then why fix it?" I also believe 75% of all ME complaints are due to people who aren't doing a 100% clean install.

    Sincerely,

    Best4x4
