Originality

I wanna know the things that you think were really original-entirely new genres, original aspects, everthing! Especially stuff you think changed the gaming world.

For me it was Myth by Bungie ( www.bungie.com ). It's way of incorporating a medieval style game into a 3d world where by you control men and do battle on real 3d terrain. Tactics became a big part of it.

And as flashy as it sounds, it was greatly optimised so it even ran on my old 5x86 (R.I.P.)!!

The upcoming Warcraft III is based on a similar concept.

Since I bought this game (in 1997 I think), I'm addicted to playing 3d action- and action-adventure games.

interesting you should say that Kozakowski, 'cause I've allways thought of WarCraft as just another DuneII clone, much like the C&C series, what was it exactly that you found different about that game?
(I'm not being sarcy, I'm actually interested 'cause I never gave Warcraft a second thought)

Simcity is my vote, not exactly the worlds best game, but I can't think of anything similar that came before it so it must be orrgional correct me if I'm wrong!
