Is Earth 2150 worth buying ?

I am thinking about getting this game but before I do, has anyone got this game and what do you think about it, thanks. DD.

I bought this game and was somewhat disappointed. It does have many excellent quilities though.

Bad-
Small scale, no base building. Limited unit selection. No Coop multiplayer (someone correct me if wrong on this)

Good-
Great Graphics, Drop in Multiplayer games.

I bought it primarily as an RTS for COOP and it didn't seem as good as, say Dark Reign 2. But tastes differ, and wait for a second opinion.

Hmmm...no base building Are you given a base to start with ?

Earth 2150's a little different - you ahve 2 bases. One is the main base where most stuff is built and credits sent back to (I'm only on the 1st few missions here ). You build a secondary base where you are located for the mission that you're on.
A REALLY ANNOYING trait of Earth 2150 is that units can RUN OUT Of AMMO. I know it's realistic, but it's a pain in the .....

It's OK but I prefer both Ground Control (No base building at all - equipment/troops etc. brought in by dropship at start of mission) and Dark Reign 2. DR2 is a traditional type of RTS.Out of these 3 Earth 2150 is graphically poorest as well.

I have mistaken Ground Control of Earth 2150. Now I KNOW that I have too many games!!!!

I take back everything and apply it to Ground Control.

Most of the reviews I've seen say that Earth 2150, though the goals are different from many others, is the best RTS game around.
The 3D graphics (+wheather effects and changing daylight) must be superb!
But haven't played it myself.

My friend purchased it and I think that it is one of the best RTS games out there. It acually uses a 3d engine and the game still works fine, unlike Force Commander or War games. It is really fun and challenging, one of my favorite thing is that you can dig tunnels undergroud as well as trenches to keep out the enemy tanks. Very good game!

But you can't build a base, can you ? The reason I ask is that I like a game where I can build a base, build base defences and then get out there and fight a war, and if I need renforcements I can just build more.

As I said above, you CAN build bases in DR2. You can't in Ground Control.
Meant to say Earth 2150 in place of DR2...sorry....

Yes, you build bases exactly like in C&C games. You have the different structures, some build tanks and such, others build repair and harvestor units. There are different types of base defenses, trenches, walls, turrets. It is basically designed like any other RTS game, just in 3d. Very great game, jsut takes a little time learning thats all. If you have a fast interenet connection I would suggest going to www.earth2150.com and download the demo!

Thanks, that's what I needed to hear. Definitely get this game now, work my way through SoF and Driver and then come back here in a couple of months time and hopefully find this forum still here and going from strength to strength. Thanks to all, cheers for now. DD.
