I also remember playing Sun Tzu's Ancient Art of War by Broderbound(?) a lot too. Heck I think that might be that game that led to games like C&C, Starcraft and others.

Nascar 1 from Papyrus. Pitiful graphics, but if you like Nascar and had a wheel, extremely fun

Played King's quest 1 on my 286 and was stunned by the new world. I still remember the king croaking at the end of the game, toppling in all his DOS based pixelated glory...
Ah, fond memories of days of yore...

Back in the early 80's, the text adventures from Infocom on my Commodore 64, especially Deadline. They came on 5 1/4 floppies (the drive cost $200 back then!) and took an extremely long time to load new areas. I played one of the games from a compilation on a 386 in ~'90 and was amazed that as soon as I entered a new room, the text was immediately displayed onscreen. Links 386 and Wolfenstein 3D were pretty fun on that same 386.

I downloaded it from one of those abandonware sites and damn. I don't know how I played it. We have come a longgggggg way. LoL
