I worked for a software company that CLAIMED they would send a lucky registrar an official t-shirt by drawing every month. They didn't have t-shirts. The reg card indicated that the data on the card would not be shared. The support guys (us) intercepted the marketters trying to solicit warehouses that purchase e-mail/address databases for $0.04 an address. Ok $400 for 10000 names. Luckily, the president/aka programmer was honorable in this.
