How do I take advantage of this video card with Quake 2. In the video selection panel, it dies when I select anything but software. I tried doing a glsetup from the web but they didn't have a matching driver. I'm sure this is easy, but I'm new at this. Thanks.
Yes, I had to give Q2 a few tries when updating from Voodoo2 SLI to Elsa Gladiac.
Force the change to DefaultOpenGL driver, then to the desired resolution.
If you get crashes running DefaultOpenGL, you've got to solve some Hard/Software issues like AGP chipset drivers or transfer rate. What are your system specs please?

I would try using the 6.18 drivers. When I had q2 installed, it ran fine on my tnt2u. Have you ever had any 3dfx products in your machine? iD Software has always had good opengl products that usually ran fine on most people's systems.

I'm sorry, the 6.18 driver for what? I downloaded and installed what I thought was the latest nVidia driver yesterday. How do I tell driver release number? In the driver file details it shows 4.12.01.0522. I'm new at this....
Okay, that's done. shows 6.18 where it used to show 5.x. Still behaves the same in quake 2. Runs fast but only takes software i the option selection. If I select default opengl, it actually closes the app. Other selections kill the server but the app stays up.
Bring down the console (~); it should be listed at the bottom.
But I am stumped on why you cannot play this game with your spanking gf2. If you still have the q2 upgrade, I would suggest uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Maybe something got fuxored on installation.
