I've been using them for years only because they are reasonably priced..as for the rest take everything they say with a pinch of salt...
I have many a time asked when i would be receiving the parts and took a day off to wait in for the parcel and waited and waited...only to ring them back after a week of waiting and find that the product is out of stock and that they are getting it in in a days time then a week l8er...you know the rest
if your not in a rush order from these...at least their fairly cheap

*****= they gave me the stuff free in fact they paid me!!wow (excellent)
Extremely busy, though I am also dead-tired. More importantly, I needed time to discuss this with others who are higher up than I, as well as with colleagues, and am sorry to report that I will not be able to meet your request. One of the reasons for this is technical, the other isn't.
The technical reason is that UBB does not natively support any rating system that can be used for the purposes you describe. But even with that issue aside, there remains the fact that I am concerned about what the results of creating such a forum would be. I am sure that you all have the best of intentions going into this, don't get me wrong. But I worry about those whose intentions will either be less honorable or will fall by the wayside the first time they feel they have been burned by some vendor.
You say you want something which takes on the qualities of ResellerRatings.com, Pricewatch.com, and the BBB. But here's the thing. Resellerratings, has an automated rating system with comment areas about specific vendors. Pricewatch lists vendors that have subscribed and makes no attempts to gather buyer satisfaction info or to learn of vendors' reliability. And the BBB is an organization that has full control over the reviews it makes available and that researches all complaints that are filed by customers, collates that information, and weeds out the unfounded/libelous claims. Now can you imagine what kind of resources it would take to do all of these things, and to do it well?
I've seen what can happen to these types of systems many times before. Some smaller vendors start to post fake positive reviews of themselves and negative reviews of their competitors. Others get angry about posters who resort to personal attacks and come after the site, claiming libel. Can it be done well? Sure. But we have quite a bit on our plate, already, offering content and discussion boards. So I'm sorry, but I cannot justify such a huge undertaking at this point in time.
Take care,
Housen

No disrespect but your fairly new over here or so I'm led to believe...
The thing is that we in the forums communicate very effectively with one another and any issues between ourselves tend to be ironed out rather than drawn out..(however not always) we know who's who within the forum and who is a good/bad trader.
Therefore if a new guy with a new name comes along we all tend to be suspcious due to past experiences with people pretending and what not..
We need a forum where we can post our views on these people..
The intended idea was for the person with a particular view to submit would forward the view to the moderator...the mod would then review the situation and investigate the matter to find out the real truth then judging from whether or not the information is largely viable the mod could then post his/her findings. (this section of the forum would obviously only be there for mods to post in).
The idea is there to protect the whole from the few who try as they may to sneak into the backdoor (so to speak *cough*) and sell non-existent hardware/software..
I appreciate that the problem has been handed over to you and you are not aware of the whole matter so i've enlightend your good self (hopefully).
I've already said that I would moderate the forum if required?
How about a trial and we'll see how the idea go's if it falls over on itself then we throw it on the reject pile and start again...
I realise that the idea of reviewing resellers is very risky...so we'll scrap that..
Also we need a reseller who is known and trusted to give the forum as a whole discount? YES?
And it would be very nice if we could split the sales forum into two seperate uk/us??
This would give us a go-between for postage costs.
No offense taken, as I am indeed new to internet.com and HWC . But I assure you that I am not new to online communities and have been participating in, moderating, and managing usenet groups, forums, IRC/web-chat channels, and MUDs going back to 1992. And in my years doing this, I have seen first-hand what the results can be from sites going into something like this half-heartedly.
I have no doubt, as I said earlier, that those of you requesting this forum would work for its success and appreciate your dedication to protecting consumers from unscrupulous vendors. But ultimately, I would be the one responsible for what might occur in a worst-case scenario, and I cannot go into this lightly. At this point in time, I need to concentrate on improving the over 100 forums I manage and can't go into something new and outside our current scope.
Can something like this be done well? Of course. In fact, I owe some sites like you're describing for saving me from buying from vendors based on price alone. But doing this right would require more resources than I can in good conscience dedicate at this point in time. And I would rather risk some disappointment now for not entering into this without the proper planning and resources than disprespect later on for having to shut it down if things go awry.
I assure you that this is issue is not necessarily closed and may well be reconsidered at some point in future. But for now, I'm sorry; I cannot grant the request for this proposed forum.
You are obviously overworked so we have to curtail the evolution of this site.....?
Makes no sense......mojo said he would moderate this forum tightly and all you can think of is what MIGHT occur.
Sorry....weak excuse new dude.
This site is continuing it's slide downhill.....nobody is in charge for long enough to get involved in a meaningful time frame to understand the membership.
Don't flame me, but I'm going to throw my little bit towards Housen. I think this is a good idea, but just not feasible from HWC's point of view. Perhaps we could get a member to start this idea on their personal site??? If we can show that it's a great program then we can present a working forum to HWC and see how they feel then.
I myself would volunteer my time to run it, but I do not have the available bandwith to support such a task from my own server. If anyone knows a way to do this from another server then I'm all for it. Well I did just get an idea in my head.. hmmm... I'll do a little research.
