Question on Cooling

Hello all. Just a quick question. My specs are below. My question is about cooling. I have an Athlon XP 1900 and am currently using the retail heatsink and fan, which was fine untill summer hit and it got hot in the house. Now I am running around 60c under load. Im thinking of a new Heatsink and fan, but have never used anything but the stock. What do you recommend I buy. Of course I will get Arctic Silver because I have heard alot of good things about it, but I need to know a good brand of heatsink, as well as how to clean the processor and apply the new stuff. Any inputs are appriciated.

It really depends on if you wish to overclock or not...
If u don't, then a Volcano 6Cu regular would do u good.
It's around $10-13...

If u do plan on overclocking...
Something like a Volcano 7+, GlobalWin CAK-38 II, CoolerMaster HHC-001, 002 would work... But these range from $30-45...

I dont plan to overclock. I just want somthing that will cool better. Plus directions on the best way to clean the processor. I dont want to mess it up. I have never used anything but the retail heatsink and fans. The Athlons run hotter though, so I would feel more comfortable with some better cooling.

Then something that's got the size and performance of a Volcano 6Cu would do u good. =)
To clean the CPU?
Either use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.... Dab the cotton w/ some of those and wipe the CPU lightly over and over until it's clean. =)

Maker sure you have proper cooling for your case, as well as upgrading your HSF unit.

If you want to keep your system quiet, then i would recomend a heatsink that can take a 80mm fan, like Thermalright's AX-7. It is $28 though. The arcticsilver website has very detailed instructions on how to clean the heatsink and processor and how to apply the AS. Arctic Silver
