    P4 Temps

What are reasonable temperatures for a P4 1.5Ghz, in idle and full load conditions?

Drakion has recently had his computer go down the drain, and has ended up with a P4.

Mine is a little different with a Pentium IV 1.6A Northwood:

    40ºC - 50ºC on Idle
    55ºC - Maximum Under Load

According to the first 2 replies thats not any better than an athlon mind you I don't know much about intel cpu's but I thought they were suppose to run cooler than amd. There's no difference in temps so after tweaking your system anybody can get any cpu to run cooler so ventilation is still a factor.

Looking at the massive hs/f that comes with a retail boxed intel 1.6 I was amazed at the size of the thing compared to what I use on my 1800XP, guess you can tell I don't keep up with intel products most of the personal customers I'd support are amd besides the fact my friends shop only sells amd. Before I went by pricing as to which one I wanted to buy but looking at this I think amd IS on an equal footing with intel.

My P4 can use stock cooling (3000rpm fan) and do a 33% overclock at stay at 40C idle, whilst my Athlon XP 1600+ never dropped below 55C (in Windows) with a ThermoEngine, this is in the same case, same position in the same room.
