    CPU Fan

    Can anyone recommend a good CPU Fan and Heatsink.

    Im looking for the quietest i can, but ihave a budget of around £20, less if possible.
    I'v just brought an Enermax PSU, and now my CPU fan is the loudest.

    Any Ideas.

    For £20, you'd be hard pressed to find something that suits your needs better than a Thermoengine:

    £20.27 inc VAT with free delivery. Even though it's a fairly old model (newer versions are larger, are part copper and have more powerful fans) it should be sufficient to cool your CPU adequately and the fan is whisper quiet. There are better solutions available, such as an Alpha PAL8045, Cooler Master HHC-001 or Thermalright AX-7 (with quiet fans) but they are twice the price.

    Ditto to the ThermoEngine, they're pretty sweet as stock - quiet as new heatsinks go. With a Delta, they offer pretty good perfomance.

    This place had a few good ones. I don't know if they ship outside of the US, but their prices are good. They have an Alpha PAL 6035 w/ 30CFM fan for $20:

    There are lots of other good ones. Even a cheap Volcan 6Cu can be picked up for just over $10 at most places. Works great on a Duron 1Ghz (38'C).

    If your temps are good and you are willing to settle with slightly lower temps you can mod your fan to run at 7v. You will run hotter by a bit (3-5'C normally), but it will be MUCH QUIETER.

    Cheers guys, the thermoengine looks like a gd idea.

    How would i go about changing the voltage to the fan?
