    DDR Memory Clock speed

    I'm a little confused.

    I have finally put together my new system (it worked the first time) and am starting to overclock it.

    My problem is I can't seem to figure out how to control my DRAM clock speed.

    Specs:
    8K3A+ mobo
    950MHZ Athlon
    512MB PC2700 Samsung

    It is failing at a 115 MHZ FSB and I can't figure out why.

    CPU multiplier is set at 8

    Any recommendations?

    Guess I figured it out:

    DRAMM Clock Setting options are-
    100
    133
    166
    SPD

    100 = FSB X 1.0
    133 = FSB x 1.33
    166 = FSB x 1.66
    SPD = FSB X (in my case 1.66 since PC2700Spec)

    I just dropped the setting to 133 and I am all set.

    I was getting a good 185 MHZ setting on my memory though which I think isn't bad.

    The Video card is a Geforce256 that is from the computer I am upgrading from:

    PIII 667 running on a 133 FSB.

    I am running miminal attachments- only 1 AGP card and no PCI cards at the moment so I don't think that should cause a problem at the moment. I am working my way up the MHZ scale. I am currently test 120 x 8 with a 133 setting on my memory (Turbo).

    I seem to have worked out the DIMM settings:

    I am now testing at

    155 MHZFSB
    6x multiplier
    Turbo Setting (2 CAS)

    My PCMARK2002 scores (for 150 6.5 multi Turbo) are:
    CPU 2785
    Memory 3049
    HDD 1082

    up from the stock settings of:
    CPU 2588
    Memory 2439
    HDD 1101

    My first Generation GeForce256 doesn't like to run for very long over 150MHZ. I can run through PC MARK a couple of time at 155 MHZ and then it overheats and I have problems.

    I can't wait for the GeForce4 4200 to come out and then I will start testing again.

    My best test for the evening was:
    157 MHZ
    7x multiplier (1099 MHZ)

    PCMARK2002 Scores:
    CPU 3118(20% over non-o'c)
    MEMORY 3319 (32% over non-o'c)
    HDD 1079 (1% over non-o'c)
    limiting factor Video card

    I am going to run normal at(and do some burn-in tests)until I can get a new video card:
    146 MHZ
    7.5x multiplier

    Hope my first experience at overclocking hasn't bored everyone.
