    Need a Quiet HSF

I am looking to replace my current HSF with a quieter one. I am currently using a Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3, and the noise is driving me nuts!

I have an AMD Thunderbird 1.1 ghz and a MicroStar K7T Pro2-A motherboard. The coils on the board make it difficult to fit some HSFs, as I recently found out with a Thermaltake Tornado 5 that I had purchased.

I'm looking for a combination of effective cooling and LOW noise, as I am very noise sensitive.

Price is definitely a factor. I'd like to stay under $20 for a new HSF, if possible.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Volcan6 Cu. Very cheap, cools pretty good, and not too loud.

Realized that the Thermaltake I had tried was the Volcano and not Tornado....lol How I came up with the Tornado I have no clue...

Anyway, the Volcano 5 was too large to fit on my motherboard. Do you know if the Volcano 6 is smaller?

    Thanks!

We have a Volcano 6 Cu. It cools okay and it isn't very loud... It is quieter than my Volcano II. Just make sure you get the one with the lower rpm fan (4500rpms or so).

It is 60mmx80mm and uses and standard 2 point clip. The copper slug on the bottom is slightly raised (about 1/8") so it will sit a little higher than most to help it clear stuff. I just scrapped off most of the thermal pad (it has small grooves in it that I left some of the material in) and added some Arctic Silver II. It kept my mom's 1Ghz Duron at 35'C full load. Not bad. That is 1'C cooler than my 900Mhz Duron with my GlobalWin FOP32-1.
