Ok guys...I've been using SDRAM long enough and would like to move to DDR. I'm thinking of purchasing an Iwill XP333raid and 256mb of OCZ PC3000 (366mhz DDR). I might possibly also add an additional 256mb of the same stuff and a GF4 or GF3 TI 500 if the money holds out. I'm thinking of staying with my current T-bird for right now since I have it clocked to 1425mhz. This would not be a whole new system, just an upgrade, as I would still be using my HDDs, DVD, CDRW, etc... What do you guys think?
To be honest I'd stick with your current mobo just a little longer and wait till AMD release their "next" socket A chip, the T-bred. Should be anytime soon...
Unless you have a stack of cash, go for the ATi Radeon 8500 or the GF4 Ti4200. Either will set you back about $200 and offer much better VFM that the higher end boards and, dare I say current Ti500's.

Ok will do. I'll wait for the KT333a chipset as per your suggestions. Atually when I first saw the Iwill board I thought it was the KT333...but now I see that it's not. I have seen a few new boards with the KT333 on them (I think clubOC had one on their page a few days ago...and there were maybe 2 others). But when are the KT333a's going to be out? I also need a new case so I think I'll pick up that first. I'd like to get and Antec 1040B and put a window and a cold cathode light in it. I'll do that first if the board is going to be a while. Who knows...by then maybe OCZ will have some PC3300 out...maybe higher?

VIA KT333A chipset for the AMD Athlon processor is expected to be released in Q2, with availability in Q3. The KT333 is the successor to the KT333, adding support for AGP 8X and upgrading the bandwidth of the V-Link North to South bridge link to 533MB/s.

hmmmm I wouldn't hold my breath for the KT333A---you will die. There will be no "KT333A." The successor to the KT333A that will include Vlink 533 and AGP8x will be the KT400. Will it support DDR400? It better if it has a name like that!
From waht I heard they were going to rush the KT333a, because the KT333 showed little or not performance boost. The KT33a waas supposed to be moved up and we might see a release much sooner. The KT400 thing that showed resantly is a confusing one. It almost a differant revision of the KT33a chipset that will come out later.
Also another indication that the KT333a chipset is coming out soon, is two board manufacturers have released specs and pictures of their KT33A boards and a few benchmarks serfaced with one of them. I think it was a Babco System mark bench and it showed a nice 10-20% boost in performance. The KT333 only showed about a 1% boost. I don't know if they were running a 166Mhz bus speed or just boosted memory speeds.

Hum...Maybe I'll wait till the KT400, the AMD Thoroughbred in a 2ghz flavor, and the ATI Radeon 3...hehe...kick ***...maybe I'll have another job by then.
