What's the consensus on heat syncs, and other cooling devices?
I just got an A7V266-E motherboard, and an XP1700+. I'm using the stock heatsinc but I'm still running a bit hot, what would you recommend as being some of the best heat syncs? I've looked at the DragonOrb3 and a couple others but I'd like to have your opinions. Secondly do those thermaltake memory coolers do much? And is there anything else that you would recommed as a good product to cool my rig down?

First of all, to clear matters up its spelt "Heatsink"
I'm not too keen on Thermaltake products myself, as they always seem to be designed poorly and the performance is even worse than the quality. Memory coolers offer little performance increase but can be very usefull in a system running high memory voltages to gain that extra stability
In answer to your other question, an ALPHA PAL8045 is on the the best heatsinks available, but i'm not sure whether it will fit your motherboard due to is sheer size. Other good alternatives are a Thermalright SK6 or a Taisol CGK760

Depends how cool you want to go. With the stock heatsink and fan combo, you should be more than alright. However, if overclocking is on the menu, consider heatsinks with copper bases, or whole copper designs.
Alpha's latest Pal8045, from what I've heard, is a great heatsink. I've been out of the scene for a month or so, and things in this industry change quick! However, what I do know, is copper is the way to go. Visit www.heatsinkdatabase.com for a slew of info.
As for memory coolers, again, if you're overclocking, they may come in handy. They help keep the RAM cool when overclocking and some users swear by them.

As 600R stated, the Pal8045 is a great heatsink, but was unsure whether it would fit. On my Asus board, it does fit. All Asus boards that I'm aware of have four holes which are used for such heatsinks.

The PAL8045 will fit the A7V266-E board without modification. However, it will contact one of the board's capacitors, POSSIBLY damaging it. Rounding an edge of the base with a DREMEL or other tool could be a possible solution. This would, however, make you heat sink non-returnable. Due to these issues, we consider the use of the PAL8045 on this board a "Use at your own risk application.

Hmmm...I thought all SocketA boards had those 4 holes as part of the Socket462 standard. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I understood.
SK-6 and Alpha PAL 8045 are supposedly good coolers. Volcano7 is reallly big, but you probably won't need that. DragonOrb3 looks cool...don't know how it cools though.
I'm taking your "other devices" as an invitation to other ideas. I use a 118w peltier to cool temps to sub-zero temps. Allows for good overclocking However, it needs to be watercooled, so if you aren't up for watercooling and insulating a peltier, this isn't for you. You will also most likely need to get a larger or secondary PSU to power the peltier.
