Does it work with the KT266 chipset though. It is basically the same chipset. For that matter it is likely the same as the KT133A with a differant memory controller. Tyhe registry settings for CPU Halt mode should be the same.

They have released a new version (7.03 or something like that). They are having problems with people hacking the registration instead of paying the small $13 fee. You have to send them the registration code and they e-mail the program. I also asked them if it supports the KT266A chipset. Hopefully I will get the new version and the answer tommarow.

VCool supports VIA chipsets but not AMD and maybe not the others. The KG7 uses both VIA and AMD, and as noted in the help files VCool will still run with a small sacrifice for AMD. I use it on this KG7 with an SK6 and 80mm fan and funnel. Noise is quite bearable. VCool also displays CPU temp and System temp in the tray icon at all times which is nice. I switched from CPUidle to VCool happily. Right now my Sys temp is 27C, cpu 25C! 1G TBird @ 1.53G. Worth a try.

I used to have a GW FOP32-1 on a 1Ghz Tbird and my peak temp was about 45C. I switched to an Antec JetCool and now my peak temp is still about 45C, but my computer is MUCH quieter. This cooler would probably barely work for a 1.4Ghz Tbird.

Now you're in the ballpark. As I mentioned previously, you're going to need to apply some thermal compound. AMD CPUs will run much hotter unless a compound is present.
