www.dabs.com/value have a geforce3 (no name....are the producing it themselves?) for £260, thats £50 cheaper than the cheapest named card i have found....
now the web site has no pics....but, i have a copy of PC World magazine in which they advertise, and they have a picture of the card.....but it has NO FANS NOR HEATSINKS on the CPU nor MEMORY!!!!! is this safe?
could it be an underclocked card?
i have seen a couple of manufacturers not using heatsinks on the memory, but this has neither core nor memory HSF!!!!!
£263 is the cheapest I've seen for a new GF3, but not by £50! dabs themselves have a Creative card for £282, Watford Electronics have a Leadtek card for £264 and a 3D Morpheus Power for £276. I don't know what the individual specs are, your main concern is probably RAM speed and this will be hard to find out. For the extra £2 I'd play it safe and get the Leadtek card if funds are tight, I seem to remember it reviewed pretty well too. If money is really an issue though, maybe you should wait for a Ti 200 card when they come out, dabs have a Creative one listed at £173 but no ETA.
I'm sure others can find even better deals, I just wanted to let you know that the dabs own price wasn't too hot after all (or maybe it is if it really doesn't have any heatsinks ).

It could be the GeForce3 Ti 200. It should be a bit cheaper than that, but with its lower clock rate a simple heatsink is all most use. I think this card would be a good overclocker. Just add a fan and some ram sinks and clock away. You should be able to get near the regular GeForce3 clock/memory speeds for much cheaper.

thanks for the replies....especially the cheap quotes for named cards....
it's not just the lack of fans that is wierd on the picture of this card, but no heatsinks either....
I agree with the consensus in this thread that it is just a tech shot showing it "naked". As the Asus GF3 I've got would run over 54°C with the standard Heatsink fan unit, (under gaming loads), then I think GPU meltdown would occur without a heatsink and major instabilities with a heatsink but no fan.
