    thermal pad&heatsink compound

1st time build. Iput heat seek compound(compusa generic) on along with the thermal pad from the heat sink. This seems to be a no-no. Should I remove the thermal pad? Will any harm be done if i dont.? I put thermal compound over the entire cpu.

yes, remove the thermal pad, then apply thermal paste, like it says in the link.

You must use use either the pad or paste, I would recommend strongly that you go for the paste.
