I have an AMD 1.1ghz, Asus A7V KT133 with an Icecap cooler. It has been running fine since I got it until a few days ago. I received a Blue Screen which said the CPU was overheating. I use the Asus Utility to monitor the fan which shows the CPU temp varies between 58 and 64 deg. But sometimes the monitor shows no revolutions on the fan and a faint ticking noise comes from the tower. This only lasts a few seconds before the fan kicks in again, but it is worrying.
Surely if a fan stops working, it will not kick in again? Please can someone give me some advice.
I suggest you to try to check if fan is blocked by dust or wires: sometimes it happens that the wires got sucked into my Golden Orb, thus preventing the fan from turning!. Anyway be careful for any heat isuue!
