    Adventures with my T-bird

First, I don't understand the whole "I crunched my core", "the AMD chips are too fragile". I put the swiftech on there, seated it, clipped it. No problem. I installed two Maxtor diamondmax 20GB 7200RPM ATA100 HDDs in raid 0, so the setup would be close as possible to my PIII rig. I brought her up the first time, and installed Win2K then Linux Mandrake 8.0. I did all this at defaults. I rebooted and clocked it to 1066(8x133) so the set-up would be as close as I could make it. Like this Quake III plays faster on the PIII, but other than that I see no major speed diffference. OK, funs over let's get down to business. Let's see how high the fsb will go. I took the multi down to 6 and kept upping the FSB until I couldn't. I got to 151. Is that good? Anyway, I decided to see exactly how high I could take it at default voltage I upped the multi a couple times. I got it to 1284(151x8.5) at default voltage. I'm running prime95 torture test, and QIII on it right now to do a little burn-in and make sure it's stable. I'm pretty amazed though that I got a 28% OC at default voltage. I could prolly get more if I lowered the FSB and upped the multi, but I'd rather have high FSB than higher clocked chip. How much do you think I can get?

I dont know, they are real easy to chip with the right heatsink {ie. any orb, Thermal engine} i have chipped 3 diffrent t-birds all of them work perfectly. What is the default speed of that bird anyway?

It's a 1Ghz AXIA. It's been running QIII and Prime98 for 8 hours now, I'll give it about 4 more before I go for the gold!!

That was exactly my thought after installing my GlobalWin WBK38 onto the chip.

It's all about the sink and clip. I've installed/removed/replaced/reseated Alpha PAL 6035 HSFs and Taisol HSF at least 40 times with no problems at all. Only took 3 tries with the ThermoEngine clip to chip a corner.

NBD, if you didn't know, the Swiftech (with the 4 screws) have probably the BEST mounting system out of all the coolers so you are probably making a hasty judgement after only have a single experience.
