Try this it's kinda cool!!

1. Open a DOS/command prompt
2. cd to your desktop
3. type in the command on the next line
dir c:\/s >HD.doc

It should place a file on your desktop.
How big is the file and how long did it take? Mine was 2.87MB, and took about 3 seconds to make. If you're brave you can open it and see the entire listing of the contents of your HDD. Mine was just under 800 pages though.

Mine took about 1/2 a second & is 382Kb. Of course my c:\ oly has the OS & Office; everything else is on other drives.

whats even cooler is to login to a ftp with the dos ftp and do a
ls( or list) -laR> c:\ftplist.txt

will dump the entire directory into a file.. much faster than waiting on it to load etc...
