Coolermaster AHHH?

A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless(and no it's not me!)) is about to buy an Athlon 1.1ghz package deal with mobo etc.
the thing is it comes with a Coolermaster"heat pipe radiator" heasink ,now I think I remeber them getting a slagging here,but he say's he read a good review about it somwhereAm I fighting a loosing battle trying to get him to NOT fit this and go for a Globalwin or something or am I wrong about this H/S.(I got a FOP-38 so im not worried

Are you sure that he stated a "heat pipe radiator"? It sounds like those used for the Intel P4 not AMD.
If it was not a misprint, then, you won't get that much response about it, since, that design is still not widely available.

I run a 1G TBird with an FOP 32(quieter than 38)This was to replace a Coolermaster (not the pipe one. I run safely in the low to mid 30'sC. I was at 50C with the coolermaster.

Shinma, Coolermaster does indeed have a heatpipe assisted HSF for the Socket A AMD CPUs such as the Duron and the T-Bird.

Yes,it's for the Athlon's and Durons,I just thought that it being Coolermaster it may not be up to it....

I haven't encountered them personally, what's your take on those things? Coolermaster hasn't been exactly the greatest in the past. Like or dislike?

My dad brought one of these at a computer show for £29 and it performed WORSE than the retail one that was brought previously for £7. Although once the addition of a Delta6800 (38CFM) was added it performed nearly as well as my Alpha 6035.
