I can change CPU's for free. (I wont bore you with the story). I understand that 566's are likly to clock higher than a 700a overclocked, BUT a 700a is worth more (atleast to the average person).
I'm also gonna exchange my motherboard for a new one, so I want to find a good combo.
My goodness - you guys have a 566 Celery overclocked to about 1Gig. This was possible only in my dreams !! Well, I certainly needed a intermediate upgrade before 1GHz, from my Pentium 133 :-) So, got the cheap deal of mobo + AMD K6-3 (333Mhz, can OC to 400 mhz) recently for $75 at Fry's here in SF bay. After I bought it and SOYO mobo, I came to know that the K6-3 at 350 mhz beats the K6-2 and celerons clocked at 500 mhz in CPU benchmarks because of the on-die L1 cache. In any case, I think when I get tired of my current setup, maybe I will try buy a Celeron 566 (which in 2 years will be selling for the same price - $75 with a free Abit thrown in :-) and then I can OC it to 1Ghz which would double my speed and RAM every 2 years at less than $100.
