coldplate dimensions

i want to build a watercooler,how thick should i make the coldplate?
my pelt is 50*50mm.

I've had my best luck with a 3/16" thick cold plate... I'm sure others will have opinions too

My coldplate is 4mm thick... should use a thicker perhaps...

i made one 6mm thick of copper 50*50*6mm.
and i'm going to use a78w pelt.
if the plate is to thick,then the heat will built up?
and it will take to long to go to the watercooler.
is that correct?

Think of the cold plate as a buffer, thicker it gets, the more it buffers the temp differencial.
Thicker should be better to stop radid temp differences, the only draw back is that you would need to run the TEC/water longer before power up to get to the required temp(if its important to get the CPU to boot at required speed).
But other side effect is that it will stop radid heatup of the core, from leak back when system is shut down.
Its the time taken for a temp differencial to cross a material. Same principle for the use of copper, rather then aluminium
