Nowhere else to put this
what does it mean if your bios is shadowed??

If i'm wrong correct me, but the bios takes a piece of ram to speed up the bios..
in other words, disable it!

is that just general advice? or does that have absolutly anything to do with shadowing?

That is correct to my knowledge
Same with video shadowing
I think in the early days accessing RAM was faster than accessing the BIOS or Video RAM...
Perhaps an early concept of shared memory AGP idea
But I'd not disable it... I'd be thinking SDRAM @ ~7ns access time is faster than accessing the flash BIOS
As for Video shadowing... I'd say turn it off if you have a 3d accelerator... those babies are built for speed

It used to be that ROM was really slow relative to RAM. It probably is still slow. The idea is that you sacrifice a few (hundred?) kilobytes of RAM to gain a performance boost. However, that is irrelevant now, and it doesn't matter much. Disabling it speeds up SETI, since it keeps more cache free. And there is a negligible difference in gaming with/without shadowing.
