I Scored Big Time!

I went to a little PC shop in the town where I work today. Just a small store, the kind that when you ask for anything it takes 10mins to find it and anouther 10mins for them to make up thier minds what to charge you for it. I usually don't go there much because I can find stuff brand new on line for what the want for old busted stuff.

Well not today. I've been wanting to get some heatsinks I can cut up into small enough chunks to properly fit on my GeForce RAM and the chipset on the MoBo. So I asked if they had any, they finally find a box full of heatsinks and fans. They couldn't make up thier minds on what to charge so I say how about $8. Which I thought was fair seeing how they said "none of the fans are working, it is a junk box". They agreed to my price and I get them home and hoped I might get lucky and get 1 working fan outta the deal. What I ended up with are 8 outta 10 working fans, all with double ended 4 prong connectors and 12 heatsinks perfect size for fitting on video chipsets and easily cut down for memory chips.

So far, it's been a good day!

I got a great deal at a computer show once. Someone had a 5-fan rack of 12v 120mm fans. For the heck of it, I figured I'd ask how much for the whole rack of 5 fans. I was expecting something like $50-60. $10 she said. 10. These things are 12v, with tachometers; Panaflo, hydrowave bearings, whatever that means. These things put out a lot of air at just 5v, let alone 12.
$10 for 5 120mm fans. With 2 fan grills each.
That was a good deal too.

Hm...well, when guys are computer freaks, I can handle that. But when I see a topic that says "I scored big time" and enter to find out that it's referring to computer FANS...., now that just scares me.
