10k rpm Hard Drives...

hey there all you SCSI freaks (like me), i just got a new 10k rpm IBM scsi160 hard drive, and i hear a really really high pitched whine coming from it, kinda like the high pitched freq. whine you get from older monitors.....is this normal because of its high rpm rate? or do i need to return it? please answer quikly, ive only got 1 week to return it.....

Sounds about right. Higher the speed higher the pitch.

I'm running 10K RPM U160 Seagates and they aren't much noisier then 7,200 RPM IDE drives.

I've got a pair of those bad boys. If I leave the case open I can hear them over all the fans. I sprayed some dynamat on the inside of my case and I can hardly hear them now.

Overclocking is like supercharging. It's not necessary, but it sure is fun to have the fastest in town!!
