Yep. In fact, I never even took the CD outa the packet! (Well, I d/l it off of Asus's site, so it's not like Asus isn't endorsing the via drivers)

I thought the CD came with the Via 4 in 1 drivers? I installed them from the CD. Or are you referring to newer versions of the drivers?

    Yeah, d/load the newer 4in1's from the website.version 4.24.
have you installed the ata 100 promise drivers?-be careful, they give a 45 second boot up hold delay on most systems, including mine! :-(
if you don't you get 'drive c:/whatever is running in 'ms dos file compatibility' in 'properties'-'performance' under w98.you can unistall them with 'add/remove programs' and the reference to ata100 'scsi drivers' in dev. manager.you then get fast boots BUT still the 'ms dos file comp.' crap.

Alright well this is a good topic. I just used the CD. You have to install the PROMISE ATA-100 drivers to get any action if your primary HD is on that channel.

Yorkie, if you are running in ms-dos compatibilty mode you are robbing yourself of any kind of performance, if you have that you have to re-install drivers.

The 4 in 1 drivers are on the CD are they not the good ones ???

Does anyone know the deal with the boot sequence crap ? My performance is good with the drivers from the CD but the boot sequence is always doing a auto-detect Bullsh*t trip that hampers the fast WIN-ME boot my other machines enjoy.

and you can disable ATA100 auto detect from BIOS
