I have a Duron650 running at 850@1.80v on an Asus A7V. The temp currently runs up to aboout 53-55 when I'm gaming, because I just have a cheap heat sink/fan combo on it. If I installed a 72W peltier and an Alpha, how much faster could I reasonably be expected to overclock this chip?
Also- I know the stock Alpha clips won't work with a peltier in the way; how do I fasten this all to my mobo?
With extream cooling every chip can reach minimum 10% higher clock.
So I think 900 would not be problem, but peltier with Duron coud be problematic, you while come up to lots of problems and you while need good peltier and lots of power, prabobly special PSU only for peltier.
Is it worth to go to 900, that is compleatly up to you.
I agree with miha76 about you deciding on whether it's worth it or not. You will probably need a second PS. You will have to worry about condensation. And even an Alpha really can't keep that peltier as cool as it should be. The hotter one side of it is, the less cold the other side will be. You'll notice that most peltier cooled systems use water-cooling methods to cool the peltiers.

Thanks guys- my original title for this thread was "Is it worth the trouble?" which I dropped for something a little more descriptive and conveniently forgot to actually ask the question- thanks for reading my mind! I guess the answer for me is no, it's not worth another 50MHz... I doubt I'd see much of a performance difference in anything I do (the TNT2 card is the bottleneck for gaming) Of course, I'd like to get 'er up to 1GHz just to say I have a 1GHz PC, but that's not likely to happen on this chip... Maybe I'll throw a water-cooled pelt on the 1.5GHz T-bird I get next summer <g>
I have a 650. at first all I could get out of it was 800..two days of burn in 850...a day and a half more....900 .I have had it up to 1050 with a peltier and cooler master HSF but the temps were way up. I have also run it stable @ 10X90 and 9.5X95 with my gorb but I get the best performance @ plain ole 900.I can run seti @ 950 all day long but if I deciede to play UT it crashes after a few minits .I am thinking about going with a watercooler but I am not shure owell will wait and see
