What happened to my 4X?

I was upgrading yesterday to VIA'S 4 in 1 424's and Detonator 3 618 when during all that my 4X disapeered.I reinstalled the 423's and Reference drivers 522 for my V770U and my P3V4X 4X capability is still set on in cmos.A funny thing is while WCPUID is in windblows it says the system is capable of 1x and 2x, but in safe mode it says the system is capable of 4x?

Ive done every thing I can think of to fix this simple eratation but no go.Just thought Id ask for suggestions before I pull the dang case apart start pulling things out and in.

It's definitely the VIA drivers.

Remove them through Control Panel, and Reinstall. When you reinstall, it'll ask you at one point about AGP Mode, MAKE SURE YOU SELECT TURBO MODE. I think the new 4-in-1s are set to Default mode by default, so you probably clicked through it and didn't even notice they weren't set to Turbo. Just reinstall, make sure you use the Turbo option, and you're fine.

Yea when I installed them I chose Turbo mode also I have reinstalled them in Turbo mode,you know I dont remember uninstalling them through Add and Remove I thought they were totaly automatic.

if u get 4xagp stable with the 6.18 drivers
let me know how u did it

i cant get 4x with any via drivers

tho i can get 4x with a standard vga driver

Update,I cant get 4x on any of my drivers except AGP 384.I know something is screwy but I havent figured it out yet.Any suggestions and Ill give it a try.

Ok I have installed 4in1 424 and d3 618 and everything is stable at 868mghz,but still no 4X.Can not figure why 4x wont run on anything except reference drivers 384.Still hopeing for a solution so if you have one spill your beans,or in other words let us know.

The 6.18 nvidia drivers drop agp back to 2x at least with the kt133 chip set....because it was having compatibilty problems with via....there was a long post on how to fix it yesterday at anandteh.....
