    FDD and IDE cable...

How do you split the IDE and FDD cable so they won't disturb airflow and still work?
I think i've seen a link here, but doesn't seem to find it...

Take a razor blade, or small bladed tool (small screwdriver works well) and separate all the individual wires. Then bind them loosly together with tie wraps, or electrical tape. You're all done. SCSI and DMA/66 cables are a little tougher!

Practice on an old cable first and take your time, you should't have any problems...

    Do i feel stupid???
Well, i thought (or dreamed) that the IDE cable has to be in some stupid pairs or something... well well, you learn every day...

    Well,
They are supposed to be paired, but with that short distance and used signal levels it shouldn't be a problem...for the normal 40 pin IDE cable and floppy, but watch out with the 80pins IDE cables these ones need to be in pairs to work at 66MB/s avoid cross-talk....

Well that really isn't any problem...since the cables are a bunch of similar pairs if you only make sure to split then in even pairs you allways get a ground cable next to another...

Well... i splitted the FDD.. haven't tried it yet though (used a spare one).
Did a 4 by 4 split, damn lot of cables to take care of..
Well, looked nice so i'll try it tonight or so... if it works properly i'll do the same to IDE cables... have no spare of those..
    ugh!
